Is it the music of jazz radio in danger of extinction?
http://www.chitownradio.com/messages/3747.html Apparently music radio not jazz works in Chicago again, and I read this is the case in many other cities. I do not understand.
Hey there! I'm very happy where I live have not profit, non-commercial, every day, all the jazz stations every day. Play Thousands of Medeski, Joplin to Jobim, Cole Porter and Chris Potter. However, I that only a handful of such stations nationwide. The thing is, I think there were too many of these stations history. Most radio stations are funded by advertising (which aspires to listen to the radio), and businesses pay advetising stations through radio program of popular music (rock, oldies, pop, hip-hop, country), because that is what most people listen. Jazz Radio is in no danger. More than just a hearing has not been too big for him, probably since the forties. Now, with Internet, more and more jazz stations appear online. Even our station (KUVO) broadcasts online for free so that everyone can hear. Is not this expansion of jazz music on the radio? I think it is. There are hundreds of free jazz stations online now, you can hear at work or at home. Misfortune is that you can not live in a region that has an audience of Jazz FM, which means you can not listen in your car. If you do, commit to money! With the station alive! Especially in the current economic climate. They live on public donations. Also, write a letter thanking them. If no station FM, I'm trying, which may have something. In addition, there was another great jazz Surgency recently among the younger generation. During the past ten to twenty years, more and more colleges and high schools are offering programs in jazz, many young musicians that break on the scene, hosts concerts and music with friends. Thus I think until recently, FM stations have diminshed jazz, which will collect. Especially when the economy did. It is my hope … Anyway I hope well:)
